Water Bender. Annicia Davis. Sugar Land

We did this shoot with Annicia at a house where we set up 3 stations: a reflection pool, an above ground pool, and a bathtub.  I was most pleased with how the reflection pool turned out although it was quite a bit of processing work to remove distraction and enhanced the colors.  The whole setup was simple and unassuming that consists of a shallow flat pan covered with black plastic wraps filled with a couple inches of water and a black backdrop.  However the result was fantastic.  I loved the way that water appeared to be frozen and being magically guided by her hands =).  Her zen expression and posture greatly added to the overall feel of the photos.  It was great shoot!  I got to mess with some creative concepts that I don’t normally get a chance to try.  Annicia “the water bender” was just amazing with her body positioning, movements, and connection with the lens.  I hope to shoot another concept with her soon.

Via Colori Street Painting

Via Colori is a street painting festival organized by The center for hearing and speech.  It’s an annual two day event participated by over 200 artists in downtown Houston.  A friend of mine participated in the street painting and told me about the photography contest that this event also held.  I cannot paint to save my life, but photography opportunity certainly interested me.  It was a fun event filled with live music, amazing art and cool crowd.  I felt that I came away with some great images for the contest.

My final 5 picks for the Photo Contest
